You could read books or watch DVDs about training. There are many books available on the subject of dog training. They are all from well-meaning pet professionals who believe their way is the best way to train a dog. But many of their methods conflict and the whole subject can become confusing.

I think we need to look at adoption and training differently. I wrote this book to give a different perspective:

How does the dog feel about all this?

Before you can get him to understand you, you need to understand him.

What is he thinking?

How does he feel?

Why should he trust you and look to you to as his leader, provider and friend?

I have been around animals my entire life. At times, I can truthfully say, I have chosen their company over people. I have discovered an innate ability to “tune in” on their feelings, if not their thoughts.

I have been called a “Dog Whisperer,” “Dr. Doolittle” and other names by people trying to describe what it is that I do. I consider myself an Animal Ambassador.

I wrote Bingo with the purpose of showing people a dog’s point of view on adoption and training. Hopefully, this book will lead to a little clearer understanding of the needs of the dog and how people can help to fulfill those needs, creating a lasting bond with, and lifetime friend of their canine companion.
The book is intended for a wide range of readers, from adults to children, and even to be read to small children in hopes of fostering care and compassion for dogs.

My hope is that you will read this book and come away with a better feel for your dog and his needs and with a determination to do what is best for the dog: train him to be a happy, productive member of your family.
